2017 Meetings and events
CVMC meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. The location of meetings is established by CVMC volunteers and changes to a different restaurant each month.
Members gather at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a meal and social time, which is followed by a discussion of club business and the opportunity to share news about our cars or other information of interest to club members.
Rallies are held throughout the year and provide opportunities to enjoy a group Miata drive through the beautiful Virginia countryside. Although the schedule varies, rallies are generally held on the third Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

Bring your lawnchair(s) so you can sit around and enjoy fellowship together. Remember to bring sunscreen and any other protection. There are some vending stations there, but you may want to bring some drinks and snacks. In addition to seeing a lot of interesting cars and meeting people, Moss is offering a 15% discount on any purchases that you make, so don't miss out on this opportunity. What about Lunch?
You can choose to enjoy food from some vendors at the show or we can pick a nearby restaurant for lunch. This will allow everyone to stay as long as they choose. We'll discuss this in more detail at our meeting on Tuesday, June 20.
SPECIAL CAR SHOW OPPORTUNITY FOR CLUB MEMBERS
One of the special events taking place at the car show is the "Charity Cruise In." This will allow us the opportunity to display our cars in the Cruise In area and promote the Club at the same time! We'll discuss this at our June 20 meeting, but our idea is to get club members to participate with cars that represent each generation of the Miata.
If you are interested in showing off your car, let's discuss the details at our Tuesday evening meeting and make some decisions about signs, registration, etc. via group vote.

Rally: August 19 - A Different Rally
This will be a bit of a different rally as our final destination will not be a restaurant but rather a well-known (at least in gardening circles) purveyor of bulbs, seeds, perennials, plants, and gardening supplies and education -- Brent and Beck’s Bulbs in Gloucester. We will however enjoy pre-ordered box lunches ($12 each, before gratuity if you so desire) on their patio from the nearby Nuttall Country Store. Otherwise you could bring your own picnic lunch or dine later in Gloucester on your own.
Box lunch options are: (1) Chicken Salad with Craisins on Croissant, (2) Ham & Swiss on wheat, or (3) Turkey & Cheddar on wheat. All box lunches come with brownie (homemade), chips (plain), fresh fruit cup, bottled water, napkin, and salt & pepper. Please send your box lunch choice to Judy by email NLT 16 August at judy.rae.bennett@gmail.com.
We will start our rally at the WaWa at 7847 Compass Point Ln in Mechanicsville. Please arrive between 8:45 - 9:00 AM for a prompt 9:15 departure. Please bring cash to pay Judy prior to our morning departure as she will pay Nuttall with her credit card. Only limited additions or changes can be made the day of the event as Nuttall's will have already purchased the supplies to meet our order.
We will meander to the NE and then SE for a mid-point stop at the McDonalds in West Point. We will get back on the road and loop east towards Mathews with our destination at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs at 7900 Daffodil Lane, Gloucester, VA 23601, https://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com. If there is enough interest Judy will arrange a private 2 hour tour of their gardens by either Brent or Becky following our lunch. Considering it will be August, Roger/Judy will probably take their own shade (umbrella) and bottled water on the outdoors tour.
Nuttall’s is located about 5 minutes beyond Brent and Becky’s and is a cute little old country store that still houses the US Post Office inside their store – a place to see once - https://www.facebook.com/Nuttall-Store-149999798387532/ or http://www.nuttallstore.com/home.html

Rally: Nov 18 - Rally to Dominion Raceway
We're excited to be going back to a very special destination and have a beautiful late Fall route mapped out to take us there. Total time for the trip is approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes, including a quick Rest Area "Pit Stop" at the one-hour mark.
We will meet at 8:15 AM - depart at 8:30 AM from:
County of Henrico, Glen Allen Branch Library (building has Red Roof)
10501 Staples Mill Rd (route 33)
Glen Allen Va. 23060
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you would like to stop at a restroom before meeting, the New Publix Store at Cross Ridge, 10250 Staples Mill Road, Glen Allen, is just east of the Library on the opposite side of road.
Some important details for everyone to keep in mind:
- We need to have dry weather for this event to take place; no rain-date is planned.
- Our group is expected to be quite large, so we've provided extra detail in the directions to allow for a self-guided tour if any of us become separated. Speed limits will be followed and the nature of the route should provide some opportunities to re-group at stop signs, etc.
- In case of being totally lost (!), just find Interstate 95 North and follow the directions from there.
- Cell phone reception may vary, but should be OK.
- It's fine if any of our members prefer not to drive on the racetrack. Please come anyway; there's plenty to see, and we could use photographers!
- In the last year, we have had some tire failures - please double check pressures, age and condition.
- This Club is lucky to have good, safe drivers. In order to maintain as much continuity as possible, try to position yourself for the road trip and racetrack laps close to other members with a similar driving style to your own.
- Signed waivers will be required, as last year, upon arrival at Dominion Raceway.
- Cost for 5 paced laps is $25 per car; fee for lunch is $10 per person. Please bring exact amount in cash, together with the 2 completed forms for track laps and lunch selection (see link below). We will collect the money and forms at the Glen Allen Library meeting place to make it easy for everyone!
- Everyone should make a copy of the Route directions and the 2 participation forms to bring to the event (see link below).
- Please RSVP zoom@centralvirginiamiataclub.net ASAP to advise if you can attend, and if your car will be participating on the track. Our initial estimate is 30 cars, 50 people, but we need to verify numbers by Wednesday, November 15.
