2020 Meetings and Events
CVMC meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. The location of meetings is established by CVMC volunteers and changes to a different restaurant each month.
Members gather at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a meal and social time, which is followed by a discussion of club business and the opportunity to share news about our cars or other information of interest to club members.
Rallies are held throughout the year and provide opportunities to enjoy a group Miata drive through the beautiful Virginia countryside. Although the schedule varies, rallies are generally held on the third Saturday of each month, weather permitting.

Rally: September 19 - Rally to Judy and Roger's Hacienda
Judy and Roger have planned a rally that ends at their house for a "bring-your-own" lunch.
We will assemble by 9:15 a.m. for a 9:30 a.m. departure from the Publix Super Market at Cosby Village.
Publix Super Market at Cosby Village
7200 Cosby Village Road
Chesterfield, VA 23832
804-639-6525
(Hull St (US 360) and Otterdale Road)
Judy and Roger suggest that everyone stop at the Wawa or Exxon Gas Station between Route 288 and the Publix to fill one tank and drain any others as they have not yet gone into the Publix to look at their accommodations.
Our mid-point stop will be at the:
Sheetz Station
Intersection of US 60 and US 522 (which becomes Maidens Road North Bound at that intersection)
Then, we'll head back to Roger and Judy's hacienda at:
11019 Chippoke Place
Chester, VA 23831
We'll leave it to everyone's comfort level whether to be indoors or outdoors as we would have a hard time getting everyone on the patio.
- Route (PDF)
- Scenic App Route
What you will need to bring for the Brown Bag Lunch:
- Your Picnic Lunch
- Judy and Roger may not have enough chairs and sitting wall space on the patio to accommodate everyone so they recommend that you bring a chair just in case..
- Indoor space will be available to those that choose that.
- Judy intends to provide some sort of desserts, chips and beverages.
- (Masks/Sanitizers mentioned below)
4 Rules For Preventing Coronavirus Spread During the Rally
Here are some rules to protect us and others during our time together:
- Stay Home if you have symptoms like a fever and a cough – Even if your symptoms are mild, you should stay home. You may feel like you’ll be okay and intend to keep completely to yourself, but you can’t predict what might happen if you go on a rally. If you are infected with Coronavirus, you may accidentally spread it to others.
- Wear a mask and be serious about social distancing – Keep yourself and your stuff six feet away from everybody else when at rest stops, when you get gas, grab a bite to eat or use restrooms. Germs can travel outside.
- Bring hand sanitizer & sanitizing wipes – Use hand sanitizer and wipes every time you touch surfaces. Be especially careful with doors, light switches, bathroom surfaces and anywhere people handle food.
- Watch your gear – When you stop, there’s a tendency to set purses, backpacks, keys, wallets and cell phones down on surfaces. You don’t know what germs live there. Whenever possible lock your stuff in your car or carry it in your pockets instead of setting it down

No Rally in November
It’s a beautiful Fall and the trees in our backyard are on fire. Weather like this just makes us want to zoom, zoom, zoom in our wonderful Miatas.
As beautiful as it is and as tempting as it is to gather, it is s a time for us to be ever more cautious until we can do this safely. Brian and Lisa have been planning our upcoming November rally, but because of flooding in some of the route areas, the difficulty of safely gathering together as the corona 19 virus is spreading with a vengeance, and the governor’s new mandate to protect us all, I have decided that it is necessary to cancel that rally and all physical gatherings for the remainder of this year. I want to thank Brian and Lisa for scouting out and planning the rally and invite them to lead us on that drive when it’s safer to gather again.
Traditionally, we do not have rallies in January and February because the weather is unpredictable. So, although we will be missing the November rally of 2020, we did have an extra rally when the weather was nice last February.
Canceling physical gatherings does not mean we still cannot be engaged as a club. We still have our regular Zoom meetings on the third Tuesday evening of each month and thanks to Greg & Dee, we have the Facebook site to share items of interest, humor and just stay in touch. This is a time when we can look at the positive side and think about creative opportunities for club engagement. Just because we can’t gather in groups, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your Miata and go on some interesting drives. Perhaps this is a time when you can do some informal route planning and think about potential rallies for next year. This is a time when we can share old rally routes so you can go out and joy the nice drive on your own. I’m sure there are many other creative ideas that can afford opportunities to stay connected and plan for the future.
Stay safe!
Bud, Lisa and Brian
