2021 Meetings and Events

CVMC meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. The location of meetings is established by CVMC volunteers and changes to a different restaurant each month.

Members gather at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a meal and social time, which is followed by a discussion of club business and the opportunity to share news about our cars or other information of interest to club members.

Rallies are held throughout the year and provide opportunities to enjoy a group Miata drive through the beautiful Virginia countryside. Although the schedule varies, rallies are generally held on the Saturday following the monthly meeting, weather permitting.

Rally: May 22 - Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm

We hope you can all join us for our May rally to the Sacred Acres Alpaca Farm in Fluvanna County among the rolling hills of the Virginia Piedmont!

Tours of the farm cost $5.00 per person and last 30-60 minutes. At our meeting on May 18th, Bud will propose that the club cover this fee for all those who are interested in taking a tour of the farm.

We'll MEET AT 8:45 a.m. and LEAVE AT 9:15 a.m.

Our MEETING POINT is:

Sheetz Gas Station
2600 James Anderson Highway (RT 60)
Powhatan, VA 23139-7401
(Intersection of Dorset Road and RT 60)

Alex and Jim have these "pointers" for the rally:

  • We most likely will split up into two groups. It’ll be easier to rally and the pee stops have “limited” capacities, if you know what we mean.
  • There are picnic tables at the farm but we suggest bringing your own chairs.
  • Wear sturdy walking shoes appropriate for uneven ground that could be wet or muddy. No high heels, sandals or open-toed shoes.
  • Bring BUG SPRAY. Just in case.
  • Just before we get to the farm, we will make a “pit stop” at the Sunny Day Market and Deli since there’s only a PortaPotty at the farm.
  • OPTIONS FOR LUNCH:
    • The morning of the rally, you can PRE-ORDER YOUR LUNCH from the Sunny Day Market and we’ll stop there long enough to pick it up (just before noon). Here's a link to their menu:
    • Or... you can PACK YOUR OWN LUNCH.
    • NOTE: There is no food or drink for sale at the farm.

Here are the routes for the rally:

Rally: Saturday, June 19 - Rally Through Battlefields

Our June "Rally Through Battlefields" may hopefully be one of our last, “bring your own picnic rally due to COVID” (Judy didn’t have time to plan for a restaurant destination when the rules changed for Virginia), so please bring your own picnic lunch, camp chair and beverage.

We will start at the Sheetz Gas Station near the intersection of Temple Avenue and Puddledock Road in Prince George, VA.

Be there by 9:00 a.m. so we can prepare for departure at 9:30 a.m.

Sheetz Station
1900 Colonial Crossings Drive
Prince George, VA 23140

(via Rt 144 exit off of I-95S in Colonial Heights)

We will meander through three of the Richmond/Petersburg National Battlefield locations (and drive by a very small one in Chester—Danzler Battery) over about 90 miles and 2.5 hours of driving time. Some nice roads but mainly a nice (vs. great) drive to see places we don't normally take the time to see.

Our mid-point stop will be the Love’s Travel Stop off of I-64 in New Kent County and our final destination is:

Judy’s Patio (a.k.a. “Casa de Judy”)
11019 Chippoke Place
Chester, VA
(Please do not park on any cultivated grass at “Casa de Judy” as she and her neighbors have irrigation heads placed along the roadway edge.)

REMEMBER to bring your own picnic lunch, camp chair and beverage!

  • Route (pdf)
(NOTE: Roger/Judy included an “Ask Chauncey” statement in their route instructions as they think Chauncey is the most well-read guy in the club about that kind of stuff, and they admit they are not!)
  • Scenic Route (app)

Hope to see you all and enjoy your company and friendship, again and looking forward!
